My main research fields are applied microeconomics, labour economics, development economics.
I was an Overseas Development Institute Fellow at the Ministry of Education, Ethiopia, and continue to work with the Government of Ethiopia and the World Bank on public-sector governance and civil-service reform.
My job market paper studies how public-sector wage and hiring policies distort the returns to education and how this impacts productivity.
I will be available for interviews at the ASSA 2019 Meeting in Atlanta and at the European Job Market in Naples.
